1st Year M.Sc. Nursing students (Child Health Nursing and Community Health Nursing speciality) from Sikkim Manipal College of Nursing (SMCON) organised a Nutritional Programme on the topic “Toddlers and Pre-schoolers Diet” at ICDS Majhigoan, Rangpo. Around 20 mothers along with their child of Majhigoan community attended the programme. The programme started with welcome address followed by felicitation of guests, Mr. Pinku Kumar Prasad, Councillor Rangpo Nagar Panchayat, Mr. Arjun Manger, President Biswadeep Samaj, Mrs. Kalpana Gurung, LHV PHC Rangpo, Mrs. Apsara Devi Sharma, ICDS Incharge of Rangpo and faculties, Prof. Ranjita Devi, Vice Principal, Prof. Reshma Tamang and Mrs Nandarani Devi Asst. Professor SMCON. Students provided health talk on healthy nutritious diet for toddlers and pre-schoolers discussing about nutrition requirements, types of nutrients, daily amount of each nutrient in toddlers and pre-schoolers and significance of these nutrients in children with the help of attractive audio-visual aids. A quiz session was held to evaluate the knowledge of the audience on the above-mentioned topics and a small token of appreciation was given to the mothers who participated enthusiastically. Students also prepared and displayed  Nutritious Khichdi, Kheer, Millet Pancake, Mixed Fruits, Multigrain Ladoos as per Recommended Dietary Allowance Guidelines for children at ICDS and explained the value of ingredients to the mothers. The programme ended with words of appreciation by guest Mr. Pinku Kumar Prasad, councillor, Rangpo Nagar Panchayat and vote of thanks by the student.
