On October 1st, The students from MBBS, Nursing, Physiotherapy, Biotechnology,NSS SMU Cell volunteers along with dedicated faculty members, joined forces for a cleanliness drive at Sikkim Manipal Institute of Medical Sciences (SMIMS) in Gangtok. This event, part of Swachhata Pakhwada and Swachhata Hi Seva, aimed to transform the campus and promote cleanliness.

 

Dr.Sanjiba Dutta officiating Dean SMIMS has adress the gathering and emphasized that cleanliness is everyone's responsibility.

 

Dr.Sanjay Kumar Prof & Head Physiology SMIMS, Programme officer NSS SMU Cell delivered the welcome address and highlighted shramdaan activities aiming to generate jan andolan through community participation to provide inputs on the implementation of Swachh Bharat Mission,to disseminate the importance of a sampoorna swachh village, to reinforce the concept of sanitation as everyone's business. He also administrated Swachhata Pledge. 150 students from diverse backgrounds collaborated in this noble endeavor. The participation of future healthcare professionals underscored the importance of cleanliness in public health.

 

 

The primary focus was cleaning the college campus. Teams armed with gloves, brooms, and garbage bags meticulously cleaned every corner. The result was a spotless transformation.

 

The event also included refreshments, fostering camaraderie and celebration. It demonstrated that collective action can create a significant impact.

 

SMIMS,SMU showcased how educational institutions can instill values of cleanliness and environmental consciousness. This event went beyond aesthetics, nurturing responsible citizens.
