The paramedical course were started in the year 2019 currently department of Allied Health Professions, under Sikkim Manipal Institute of Medical Sciences (SMIMS), Sikkim Manipal University, Sikkim. Having established a firm footing in the field of Allied Healthcare education today, the department stemmed with the intent to provide educational innovation, advance knowledge and educate student to contribute positively to Healthcare system.

B. SC MEDICAL IMAGING TECHNOLOGY (BMIT)

  • Graduates with a B Sc. MIT degree have the option to pursue a Master's degree and specialize in various medical imaging modalities
  • These graduates are qualified to work as Imaging Technologists in Hospitals and healthcare industries, including facilities offering Radiology services both in public and private sectors.
  • Those holding a B Sc. MIT degree have the opportunity to join Medical Imaging Equipment companies like Hitachi, Toshiba, GE Healthcare, Philips, Siemens, etc., as Application Specialists
  • Graduates also have the potential to engage in research endeavors in Medical Imaging Technology with different Radiology Tech. companies.

B. SC MEDICAL LABORATORY TECHNOLOGY (BMLT)

  • Medical Laboratory Technology is one of the fastest growing professions and it offers tremendous opportunity abroad.
  • The B.Sc. MLT, Technologists can advance to supervisory or management positions in labs and hospitals.
  • They can also work as Laboratory manager, Consultant, supervisor, health care administrator, Hospital Outreach coordinator, Educational consultant and Health and Safety Officer. Additional opportunities are available in molecular diagnostics, molecular biotechnology companies and in vitro fertilization laboratories as well as in research labs.
  • In the clinical areas, Drug testing, Therapeutic drug monitoring and Biogenetics are some of the specialties with openings.
  • In industry, Medical Technologists are needed for positions in product development, Marketing, Sales, Quality assurance, Environmental health and insurance

B. SC ANESTHESIA & OPERATION THEATRE TECHNOLOGY (BAOTT)

  • These graduates are qualified to work as Anaesthesia and Operation Theatre Technologists in Hospitals and healthcare industries both in public and private sectors.
  • Technical officer: Operation Theatre Technologist, Medical Surgical Technologists, CSSD Technologist

B. SC CARDIOVASCULAR TECHNOLOGY (BCVT)

OPPORTUNITIES FOR GRADUATES:

 

  • Graduates with a B Sc. CVT degree have the option to pursue a Master's degree.
  • These graduates are qualified to work as Cardio vascular Technologists in Hospitals and healthcare industries, both in public and private sectors. Performing Echocardiography. 
  • Analysis and programming cardiac pacemakers.
  • Handling cardiac catheterisation laboratory.
  • Performing all non-invasive tests.
  • Graduates also have the potential to engage in research endeavors.
  • Technical officer: CVT Technologists, Cath lab Technologist.
  • In academic institute as teaching faculties: Cardiovascular Technology Educator/Instructor
  • CVT department administrator/Supervisor.
