It gives me great pleasure to know of the publication of the 2nd Annual Report based on the activities of Sikkim Manipal University (SMU) in 2006-07.
 The recognition of Sikkim Manipal Institute of Medical Sciences (SMIMS) by the Medical Council of India and the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India is a significant achievement this year. For this, I want to convey my heartiest congratulations to all for their sincere and concerted efforts for this success.

The recognition has further added tremendous impetus to all of us working here at SMU campus and the existing infrastructural facilities are being constantly geared to serve Sikkim, the North East Region as well as the rest of the country in the field of medical & technological sciences for which SMU was initially established by the SMU Act of 1995.

As we progress and step into the New Year we hope to achieve greater heights with continual support and hard work of all those persons within and outside who have displayed dedication and devotion towards helping to make this Institution into a great one in the coming years.
