Special
guest lecture on “Career as a Company Secretary and Income Tax E-Filing”
The Department
of Commerce, Sikkim Manipal University, in collaboration with the Institute of
Company Secretaries of India (ICSI), organised a guest lecture on “Career as a
Company Secretary and Income Tax E-Filing” on 16th October 2025. The session
aimed to acquaint students with professional career opportunities in the field
of Company Secretaryship and to provide practical exposure to Income Tax
e-filing. The event featured CS Dr Pintu Prasad Jaiswal as the Guest Speaker,
who delivered an informative and interactive session covering the structure of
the CS course, corporate governance practices, and step-by-step guidance on the
Income Tax e-filing process.
The program
began with a welcome address by Dr Madan Chettri, Coordinator, FHSS&LA, SMU,
followed by an engaging lecture by the speaker and concluded with a
question-and-answer session and a vote of thanks delivered by Ms Deepa Sharma,
the event convenor. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from all students
and faculty members of the Department of Commerce. The session proved highly
enriching, enabling students to gain a clearer understanding of the CS
profession and its role in corporate compliance. Participants also received
practical insights into digital tax filing processes, thereby bridging
theoretical knowledge with professional practice.
