The Department of Hospital Administration was established in the year 2008.It is a constituent unit of Sikkim Manipal Institute of Medical Sciences(SMIMS), Sikkim Manipal University.
Hospital Administration has become one of the most lucrative career in the fast growing field of health sector for graduated willing to serve the humanities. As health sector is booming day by day in the prospective of globalization the demand of Hospital Administration has increased tremendously.
The pedagogy of the MHA programme at SMU includes Classroom lectures, case discussions, and student’s participation for Skill and Personality development.
Emphasis is given to computer –aided learning through computer related project works Audio-Visual Facilities are provided to facilitate the presentation by students. Good number of practical work in the form of- Hospital Posting, Visit to nearby Hospitals, Practical work, Assignments, Mini Research Projects, and Dissertation.

The 1st year M. Sc. Nursing students and faculty of Sikkim Manipal college of Nursing conducted a School Health Assessment and Awareness program at PM Shri Govt. Jr. High School, Adampool under a flagship program of Unnat Bharat Abhiyan, on the topic: Peer pressure, Human trafficking and teenage pregnancy, students exhibited a realistic role play on human trafficking
The Faculty Development Program (FDP) cum Workshop on Enhancing Efficiency with MS-Office in Workplace was conducted on 22nd April 2024 at conference hall, academic building, CDOE, Majhitar Campus. The aim of the program was to equip faculty members and staff with practical skills and techniques to enhance their efficiency and productivity using Microsoft Office applications.
On 12th April 2024, the final Year B.Sc. Nursing students (interns) of Sikkim Manipal College of Nursing (SMCON) has organized a School Health Awareness Programme on the topic “Physical and Mental health of adolescents” at Government Secondary School, Chanatar Rangpo, Sikkim.
On 9th April 2024 the students of SMCON, VI th Semester performed a Health Talk On Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan. at Maternal Child Healthcare Center , STNM Hospital.
This session provides an overview of the accreditation process and its significance for higher education institutions in India. The session was designed to familiarize institutional stakeholders, such as administrators, faculty members, and staff, with the NAAC framework, criteria, and procedures.
Sikkim Manipal College of Physiotherapy organized its 3rd Annual Day Program on 6th April 2024. Since the past few years, Annual Day has been a monumental event greatly anticipated by students and staff alike. An amalgamation of music, culture, and vibrant colors.
The 6th semester students from Department of Mechanical Engineering visited Zydus Wellness Products Ltd., Mamring Plant, Sikkim as part of their academic program. The purpose of the visit was to provide students with practical exposure to the industry and to understand its operations, functions, and processes.
The much-anticipated Kaalrav Fest 2024, hosted by Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology (SMIT), concluded with resounding success on March 31st, after three days of vibrant performances and intense competitions. The fest, which commenced on March 29th, witnessed enthusiastic participation of many students and various colleges, setting the stage for a memorable extravaganza.

I had a great time at Sikkim Manipal University in the department of hospital management. It was very helpful in achieving the pathway of doing something meaningful in life. I would strongly recommend any one to join Sikkim Manipal University for undergoing post-graduation hospital administration as it is one of the noted and pioneer university offering hospital management courses in north Easter n part of India.
There is so many things that I loved about Department of Hospital Administration. 1st our professors used to take time to explain the course subjects and are very supportive to students who required extra help. 2nd I like the fact that in our classrooms, there was a lot of interaction between our professor and us. 3rd is hospital rounds which helped us to understand our subject more practically. MHA is a place that moulded my character and made me what I am today.
MHA in SMIMS has played an instrumental role in making me what I am today. I believe that the faculties and the curriculum has laid the strong foundation which my career is built upon.
In 2014, I successfully completed my Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA) degree, a pivotal milestone in my academic and professional journey. This comprehensive program equipped me with a deep understanding of the healthcare industry, its complexities, and the critical management skills necessary to navigate this dynamic field. During my studies, I delved into healthcare policy, financial management, quality improvement, and leadership, among other essential subjects.
