Bachelor of Science (BSC) in Clinical Psychology

Overview

The graduate program offers three-year degree in major in Clinical Psychology and four year with honors and research in Psychology along with multiple entry and exit points. The entire academic structure is designed on the lines of NEP-2020 guidelines and followed by the common regulation set by the institute/ university. The proposed program has exit points at the end of every even semester; promotion/exit criteria is applied at the end of each even semester. The clinical psychology program is well blended with courses from various disciplines such as chemistry, physics, environmental science, computer applications, social science statistics, sports science, etc. This will enable students to pursue higher studies in M.A./M.Sc. Psychology/Clinical Psychology program of this university or any other university/institute of repute. The exposures in interdisciplinary courses will also make the students industry ready by using applied psychology for various fields.

 

Course Objective:

  • To provide wholesome education to meet the intellectual aspirations of the students.
  • To equip students with techno-managerial skills to enable them to take their assigned role in the industry.
  • To inculcate essential ethics and values to meet the spiritual needs to the students.
  • To provide a sound institutional environment nurturing emotional strength, healthy mind-body and resilience amongst the students.

 

 

AIMS OF BACHELOR’S DEGREE PROGRAM IN PSYCHOLOGY:

The undergraduate psychology program aims at the following goal

  • Offering learning opportunities to orient the students towards scientific and humanistic study of the complexities of human mind and behavior.
  • Imparting knowledge of basic psychological concepts and methods and developing ability to appreciate the challenges in field settings.
  • Help shaping cognitive, affective and behavioral abilities of students for building responsible psychology professionals and researchers.
  • Facilitating acquisition of basic skills in major areas of application (e.g. psychological testing, experimentation, counselling, interviewing, developing psychological tools, behavior modification, data analysis, report writing).
  • Promoting self-understanding, reflexivity and personal growth. Helping students understand the complexities of self and human relationships and how the two make each other up..
  • Developing a strong sense of ethical and moral aptness in general and in the context of learning and its assessment in particular.
  • Helping students master the basic reflective, analytical, scientific writing, computational and communicative competencies.
  • Developing respect for social diversity and increasing social and cultural relevance of learning.

 

 

PROGRAMME OUTCOMES (POs): 

Program outcomes (PO) for Undergraduate Programs, Courses Psychology with Multiple Entry-Exit, Internship.

  • Demonstrate a detailed knowledge and understanding of selected fields of study in core disciplines in the humanities, social sciences and languages.
  • Apply critical and analytical skills and methods to the identification and resolution of problems within complex changing social contexts.
  • Demonstrate a general understanding of the concepts and principles of selected areas of study outside core disciplines of the humanities, social sciences and languages.
  • Apply an independent approach to knowledge that uses rigorous methods of inquiry and appropriate theories.
  • Articulate the relationship between diverse forms of knowledge and the social, historical and cultural contexts that produced them.
  • Communicate effectively and show ability to read, write, listen to and speak in a chosen language/s with fluency.
  • Act as informed and critically discerning participants within the community of scholars, as citizens and in the work force.
  • Work with independence, self-reflection and creativity to meet goals and challenges in the workplace and personal life.

 

ELIGIBILITY

  • B.A - Passed 10+2 or equivalent in any stream
  • B.Sc. Clinical Psychology - Passed 10+2 with preferably with Science/Environmental Science/Computer Science/Psychology.
