PROGRAMME REPORT
A Mental Health Awareness Programme on the topic "Adolescent Mental Health" was organized on 13th February 2026 at the Government Secondary School, Majhitar. The programme commenced at 10:30 AM with the objective of creating awareness among adolescents about the importance of mental health and promoting healthy coping strategies during this crucial stage of life.
The programme was honoured by the presence of the School Principal, Mr. Yogesh Chettri, who attended as the Chief Guest. In his address, he emphasized that mental health is equally as important as physical health, particularly during adolescence, a period marked by rapid emotional, social, and psychological changes. He encouraged students to seek support whenever required and to foster an environment of understanding and empathy towards mental health concerns.
A meaningful and thought-provoking skit highlighting various aspects of adolescent mental health was performed by the 1st Year M.Sc. Nursing students of Sikkim Manipal College of Nursing (SMCON), Sikkim Manipal University, 5th Mile, Tadong. The skit effectively conveyed the importance of recognizing mental health issues, reducing stigma, and encouraging timely intervention and support among adolescents.

The programme was attended by the students of Classes IX and X, along with the teachers of Government Secondary School, Majhitar. Their active participation contributed significantly to the success of the awareness initiative.
The 1st Year M.Sc. Nursing students also delivered an insightful health talk focusing on the significance of adolescent mental health, common mental health challenges faced during adolescence, and effective coping strategies to manage stress and emotional difficulties. The session encouraged students to develop healthy habits, seek guidance when needed, and support their peers in maintaining positive mental well-being.
The programme concluded at 11:30 AM with a vote of thanks delivered by the students. The event proved to be an informative and enriching experience, raising awareness about adolescent mental health and reinforcing the importance of early intervention, emotional resilience, and supportive environments for young individuals.
