PROGRAMME REPORT
An In-Service Education Programme on the topic "First Aid Management on CPR" was conducted on 25th March 2026 at the Health and Wellness Centre, Sub Health Centre, Tumlabong. The programme was organized by Sikkim Manipal College of Nursing (SMCON) and conducted by the 1st Year M.Sc. Nursing students under the guidance of the faculty members from the Department of Community Health Nursing, SMCON.
A total of 15 participants attended the programme and actively participated in the educational session. The programme aimed to enhance awareness and practical knowledge regarding first aid management using Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) among the participants, thereby strengthening their capacity to respond effectively during emergency situations.
The educational session focused on the importance of early recognition of emergencies, immediate first aid response, and the correct sequence of CPR procedures in saving lives during critical situations such as cardiac arrest, respiratory arrest, and sudden collapse. Participants were sensitized to the significance of timely intervention and the need for prompt and appropriate action while handling emergencies within the community setting.
In addition to the theoretical component, participants were provided with hands-on training to enhance their practical skills and confidence in performing CPR. Through demonstrations and supervised practice sessions, participants gained a clearer understanding of the correct techniques involved in first aid management during life-threatening situations. The practical exposure equipped them with the competence required to respond appropriately and efficiently during emergencies.
The programme was highly informative, interactive, and beneficial for all the participants. Active involvement during the discussions and practical sessions reflected the participants' interest and willingness to acquire life-saving skills that could be utilized both in healthcare settings and within the community.
Overall, the In-Service Education Programme contributed significantly to enhancing awareness, preparedness, and practical competency related to CPR and first aid management. The initiative reinforced the importance of continuous professional education in improving emergency response capabilities and promoting community health and safety.
