EVENT
DESCRIPTION (State level volleyball):
The
State Level Volleyball Tournament 2025 was held from 7th to 9th October at
Namchi, South Sikkim, as part of the Golden Jubilee Celebration marking 50
years of Sikkim’s Statehood (1975–2025). The event was organized under the
inspiring theme, “Celebrating the Spirit of Sports and Unity,” symbolizing five
decades of progress, pride, and togetherness.
The
tournament was organized by the State Sports Department with the objective of
promoting athletic talent, sportsmanship, and camaraderie among the youth. A
total of six districts from across Sikkim participated, making the event a
grand and vibrant gathering of skill, energy, and enthusiasm.
The
opening ceremony was graced by respected officials, coaches, and
representatives from all districts. The venue at Namchi echoed with cheers and
excitement as each team marched in with pride, carrying the true spirit of the
Golden Jubilee celebration.
Ms.
Drishya Pradhan (B. Tech 1st Year)
from Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology
had represented Soreng
District as a participant in the tournament. Our team was placed against
Gyalsing District in the quarterfinal round. The match was competitive and
filled with thrilling rallies, reflecting the dedication and determination of
both teams. Despite our spirited effort and teamwork, we were defeated in the
quarterfinals, marking the end of our journey in the tournament.
Although
we couldn’t advance further, the experience was deeply rewarding. Playing at
the state level provided us with valuable exposure, boosting our confidence and
strengthening our understanding of teamwork, discipline, and resilience. It
also gave us the opportunity to interact with talented players from different
districts, fostering unity and mutual respect.
Overall,
the State Level Volleyball Tournament 2025 was a memorable and enriching
experience. It not only showcased the growing sports culture in Sikkim but also
reminded every participant of the true meaning of unity, perseverance, and
pride in representing one’s district during such a historic occasion.
