EVENT DESCRIPTION
The "Run for Swadeshi – 3 Km Run" was successfully organized at Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology (SMIT) on 12 January 2026, commencing from the E-Quad Administration Building, on the occasion of the 164th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, observed as National Youth Day. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from more than 70 students and staff members and aimed to promote physical fitness, unity, and Swadeshi values among the SMIT community.
After the completion of the run, the participants were addressed by Dr. Savitha G. Kini, Director, SMIT, and Dr. Pankaj Chettri, Associate Director (Student Affairs), SMIT. They appreciated the discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship displayed by the participants and encouraged the youth to adopt a healthy and purposeful lifestyle inspired by the ideals of Swami Vivekananda.
In the Male Category, Mr. Anmol Pradhan secured the first position, followed by Mr. Arun Rai as the runner-up. In the Female Category, Ms. Monita Rai emerged as the winner, while Ms. Bhumika Brahma secured the runner-up position. Certificates and trophies were presented to the winners in recognition of their commendable performance.
The event concluded on a positive note, fostering fitness awareness, unity, and national pride among the SMIT community.
