EVENT DESCRIPTION
On 23rd January 2026, the college campus celebrated Saraswati Puja with great devotion, enthusiasm, and spiritual fervour to honour Goddess Saraswati, the divine embodiment of knowledge, wisdom, art, and learning. The event was organised by the Student Council with the guidance and support of esteemed faculty members and staff, with the objective of seeking divine blessings for academic excellence and the holistic development of students.
The puja ceremony commenced at 11:30 AM in a serene and spiritually uplifting atmosphere. The venue was aesthetically decorated with traditional décor, flowers, and diyas, enhancing the sanctity of the occasion. Colourful and intricate rangoli designs created by students adorned the entrance and surroundings, adding vibrancy and cultural richness to the celebration. A beautifully crafted idol of Saraswati Mata was installed at the centre of the venue and served as the focal point of worship, symbolising purity, wisdom, and enlightenment. A learned priest was invited to conduct the puja rituals and chanted sacred mantras throughout the ceremony, creating a deeply devotional and peaceful environment across the campus.
The ceremony was graced by the presence of respected dignitaries, including Prof. Dr. Savitha G. Kini, Director, SMIT; Prof. Dr. Pankaj Chettri, Associate Director (Student Affairs); Prof. Dr. Sangeeta Jha, Associate Director (Academics); and Prof. Dr. Chandrashekhar Bhuiyan, Associate Director (Research). Their presence added dignity and significance to the event. Faculty members, staff, and students actively participated in the rituals with devotion and reverence, making the ceremony meaningful and inclusive.
After the completion of the puja, Prasad was distributed among students, faculty members, and staff, fostering a sense of unity, harmony, and shared spiritual experience. In the evening, an Aarti was organised at 6:00 PM, which witnessed enthusiastic participation from the college community. The rhythmic chanting and collective prayers during the evening Aarti brought the day's celebrations to a peaceful and spiritually fulfilling conclusion.
On the following day, the celebration concluded with the Visarjan (immersion) ritual of the idol of Saraswati Mata. The Visarjan was conducted with due respect and devotion, marking a symbolic farewell to the Goddess while seeking her continued blessings. Students and faculty members participated in the ritual with discipline and reverence, bringing the two-day celebration to a meaningful and respectful close.
The entire event was efficiently planned and successfully executed by the Student Council, with continuous guidance and support from faculty members and staff. The Saraswati Puja celebration proved to be a spiritually enriching and memorable experience, strengthening the bond between students and faculty while reinforcing the values of knowledge, tradition, discipline, and harmony within the institution.
