BRIEF DESCRIPTION / REPORT

The Alumni Engagement Cell (AEC) of Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology (SMIT) recently hosted an enriching alumni interaction session featuring two accomplished graduates who have established successful careers in the technology and corporate sectors. The visit served as a platform to strengthen alumni-institution relationships and provide valuable industry insights to the academic community.

Distinguished Alumni Participants:

Mr. Jyotirmay Sinha is currently serving as a TCO/TOC at HP Inc. since November 2025. Having been associated with HP Inc. since June 2022, he has consistently demonstrated professional excellence and growth, reflecting his strong technical expertise and commitment to continuous learning.

Ms. Pratyanshi Chaturvedi, an alumna of the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), is presently working as an SAP Basis Consultant at Capgemini, a position she assumed in February 2025. Prior to joining Capgemini, she gained over three years of valuable experience at Accenture as an SAP Basis Associate, thereby building a strong foundation in enterprise software solutions and information technology services.

Overview of the Interaction

The interaction focused on the symbiotic relationship between educational institutions and their alumni. Both alumni emphasized that the bond with SMIT does not conclude at graduation; rather, it evolves into a lifelong partnership that benefits both the institute and its stakeholders. They encouraged students and faculty members to view alumni engagement as a valuable avenue for mentorship, collaboration, and professional growth.

The Alumni Engagement Cell highlighted the important role that alumni play in bridging the gap between academic learning and industry expectations. Through their professional journeys at globally recognized organizations such as HP Inc., Capgemini, and Accenture, the alumni reflected on how the foundational values, technical knowledge, and experiences gained at SMIT had contributed significantly to their success in the corporate world.

The discussion further emphasized the responsibility of alumni to contribute meaningfully to the institute's ecosystem. Suggestions included extending placement assistance to graduating students, participating in guest lectures and expert talks, mentoring aspiring professionals, and facilitating real-world project opportunities that would enhance the employability and practical exposure of current students.

The alumni campus visit proved to be an insightful and inspiring experience for all participants. It reinforced the importance of maintaining strong alumni connections and showcased how collaborative engagement between alumni and the institution can foster innovation, professional development, and institutional growth. The session concluded on a positive note, with a shared commitment to strengthening the SMIT alumni network and creating meaningful opportunities for future generations of students.
